The Globe Saxophone Quartet is back!

After five years Rhett Bender’s quartet the Globe will return for a week residency November 16-20 in Southern Oregon. Originally named the Athens Quartet Bender, Jennifer Turpen, John Bleuel and Scott Turpen first began performing together in 1994 as graduate students of saxophone professor Dr. Kenneth Fischer at the University of Georgia. Globe has visit the Rogue Valley five times as faculty for the summer Siskiyou Saxophone Workshop but has never visited during the school year. From Nov 16-20 Globe will be visiting Jacksonville Elementary, Central Point Middle School, North Medford High School and Southern Oregon University as part of a chamber music residency co-sponsored by Britt Festivals and the Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU

Globe will be performing two Concerts November 19 at SOU Music Recital and November 20 at Bigham Knoll in Jacksonville. Both concerts are at 7:30PM and will feature slightly different music. Both will feature music by Southern Oregon composers TODD BARTON and MARK KNIPPEL as well as music from around the world. Music Recital Hall. $10 regular, $5 senior, free to full-time students.
